Because of factors you can't control, like the temperature and other properties of the hopup rubber, you'll have to test and set the hopup every time you play; a perfect setting on one day could cause problems on another. To set, you shoot a couple of rounds down range, turn the hopup up or down a tiny amount and fire a few more rounds... keep doing that until you're getting the optimum range. If you've never done it before, ask someone experienced at a game to help you, it's one of the most important skills to have in airsoft.
