Thanks for the responses guys..

McGuyver, I thought mAh had to do with the life of the battery rather than the current draw. So right now my battery is a NiCad 12V 600mAh. Whilst I don't expect it to last long, duration-wise, but I'd thought it still be able to supply sufficient current to drive the motor. lsn't the only way to increase discharge rate by having higher voltage in these batteries?
