I'm looking at buying a used one minus the (outter barrel) mounting brackets. So my question is:

Does the RIS attach to the receiver AND the outter barrel?

If so, is there much play/wobble when the mounting brackets are not attached?

I think I may have some mounting brackets made or jimmy rig something up myself if they aren't the main things supporting the RIS.

Also, is there room to fit an 8.4v mini in there?
