It's got nothing to do with attractive. If there is one thing a gasmask can do (aside from help you breathe in less than quality gases), it can make y ou look intimidating. If a group of men bursted through your door right now brandishing weapons of sorts, would you be more fearful if you could see their face or if it was hidden? Most people will say it's more unnerving if their face (and especially eyes) are hidden. Yes, many other face covers can acheive this, but nothing really is as notorious as a gasmask.
And secondly, I'm not about to sit here and listen to you (well, not just you, I mean in general) tell me that there isn't an 'image' factor in Airsoft. I'm sure there are good reasons Airsofters don't look like speedballers, or just people in jeans/t-shirts. If a gas mask gives you the image you want (and you are fine with having limited vision and breating through a straw), then who's to rag on you for wanting to use it, but only if you've taken the proper safety proceedures (like replacing the lenses with a tougher material).

it had 1/8" thick plastic lenses and they cracked from a 350fps hit, i then replaced them with 3/32" lexan thats rated above 30 joules. Same goes for the 3 other people in winnipeg with S10 respirators

Any hints on where I can find said 3/32" Lexan?
