Burlap is retarded flammable, great tinder. Seems the burlap I'd been buying form Rona and Canadian Tire is treated with something, I did some lit cigarette testing on the burlap itself and found that even a full 2 mins worth of having a lit cig (even drawing it to increase the temp) got nothing more than a discoloured mark on the burlap, so I think it might have been previoulsy treated with some type of flame retardant. Of course, as I said burlap is great tinder, so open flame lights it easily, but cooler burning ignition source doesn't at all, at least what I buy.
BTW, remember it's fire retardant, not fire proof. Kinda like NOMEX, generally it's fire retardant for about 3 seconds, after that you are fuc't.
