Could have ripped the hook off the tappet as well. The CA M249 that I've worked on over the years (Apoc insists on an over 400fps spring in it, even if he has to keep replacing parts) had the hook ripped off the tappet before it started it's meal of two pistons within a few hundred rounds. Standard V2 tappet works fine in it. If it's not the problem, oh well, you learned that it CAN be a problem, especially with a 9.6V battery and heavy spring.
