I see no difference between those two. M16 will give you rear wired and using the Spring Guide Illusion made as a rough guide, the M120 will be too hot for your requirements, and the 1 Joule spring should sit you around 300 fps. (In the gun they used to test the springs, half the gearbox upgrades were systema).
The difference between those two are significant. The VN series doesn't require window cutouts in the upper gearbox, whereas all modern Marui Armalites require it for the quick-takedown.

Also, the loading nozzle for the VN is different - a VN gearbox will NOT function in other Armalite models.

Other than that, yes, any of the M16 / SR16 gearboxes will provide wiring to the rear but if you're hooking up a Crane stock, optimally, it doesn't matter what gearbox you get, because you should want to re-wire the circuit directly from the switch. I've seen enough fried batteries due to someone attempting to splice the Crane stock connections in to the wires hanging out the back of the gearbox, only to have the crappy connection break free of the insulation and short out on each other or against the body.

You don't *need* to swap the motor unless you're going for an application that can't hold a large enough battery (and you need a high torque motor to help your battery crank the spring) or you're after an excessively high rate of fire.
