I have some unknown version Docter clone I got off eHobby a while back (looks like a knock off of the King Arms, the old style one that looks like the Tasco) and it comes off the mount easily; there are two allen screws, just undo them and they separate.
Given you needed to do this to get to the battery, it seems highly likely the new versions are exactly the same.
Not 100% sure if it fits with the real mount, however. When trying to mount it on my VFC Quadrant Sight (for the M203) the sizes looked slightly off, but I dunno which one was "wrong."
