Okay, I think the first thing that needs to be done is find out why the battery isn't fitting properly.
I would remove the stock (from the gun) and try inserting the battery; looking in from the "gun body" end of the stock, you'll be able to see why the battery doesn't fit. It could be something as simple as the space being 1mm too tight, and you'd be able to fit that with sandpaper and about 15 minutes in front of t he TV.
