Plastic is fine
I have one M4 that is over 7 years old and still working fine.
All my guns have plastic bodies, you can paint them and scratch them and never have to worry about it. Everything else in the guns is upgraded but I still use the plastic bodies.
I have elminated all barrel wobble on my old M4's with the screw down pins used with rubber washers. It tightens the plastic body and holds the barrel in a tight grip. I also used Bruce's barrel wobble kit, but the guarder screw in body pins did more than anything to eliminate that issue.
Function over looks for me and all of mine work just fine.
