Camouflage in airsoft, beyond adding an air of authenticity and individuality, is very much tertiary. Granted showing up in blaze orange isn't going to hide you well, but at the ranges we typically engage at you will notice someone by their
motion rather than what color or pattern of camo they're wearing. You stay still, your chances of being detected are much slimmer.
To answer the first part of your question, M84 is so similar to CADPAT I've been assigned to CADPAT-only teams while wearing M84 because it's nearly indistinguishable at range. Other times I've been assigned to the "other" team. Regardless it's usually made perfectly clear before the game starts which team I'm supposed to be on.
