it slows down slide movement as the extra spring tension offers more resistance in "recocking" the hammer in the blowback cycle
also makes trigger pull harder; though not very noticeable in the somewhat 2-stage stock hicapa sear
IMHO, dont put it in unless you are getting light strikes
