So, how long DOES your 280 fps AEG with nylon bushings stay stock? I seriously doubt many of you experienced players that are touting the 'out of the box' experience with TM use stock TMs on the field. Maybe in CQB, but few of you use them stock outdoors.
The second you crack open the mechbox to swap bushings and spring, then you've right there shot your argument about TM. Crack open a JG's mechbox, clean, install metal bushings (if necessary, although many newer JGs have stock metal bushings) reshim, and regrease, and you have a gun every bit as reliable as any TM, and it STILL cost you 1/2 the price.

TM-stock gearboxes will last surprisingly longer than a great deal many other AEG manufacturers. Mainly because they don't put ridiculous 350+ springs into an AEG with nylon bushings and have a QC that's better than everyone elses. Due to the ASGK-set FPS limit in Japan, AEG's aren't supposed to be opened and upgraded. Sure, replacement parts are readily available, but the gun is supposed to function as it is right from the get go.
Plus, I did use a stock TM AK and was outranging people with upgraded CA's and G&P's. (admittedly, I did turn that AK into an RPK so I can't comment on stock performance anymore)
