Running fuses it largely useless (unless you are using a Li-Po battery), so don't worry about a fuse on either end, your mechbox will frag itself before the fuse goes in a lot of cases.
If I were you, I'd worry MORE about the switching part of your plan. Have a switch with a DC rating of over 15A that you can fit on your gun without being a huge lump on the side? Good luck with that.
