It's common knowledge that optics will increase your target acquisition speed (sometimes you don't need optics/irons at all depending on range), and thus keeping you in the game longer.
Same with applying REAL WORLD TACTICS. After all, this is a game, where you SHOOT other people with realistic guns. The only difference is they don't die, your wrists/shoulders don't hurt as bad afterwards, and your undies still smell as clean as they did before you heard the first round zip by you.
All I've EVER said, and pushed was that the PURIST ideals are pretty lame, as YOU'RE INSINUATING YOU'D RATHER LOOK COOL, THAN PLAY WELL.
As for the bandwagon bit. It's true. You're just as guilty as anyone else of OVERUSING the term "tacticool". Which in my eyes, is pretty fucking lame. Mainly because everything you've referred to as "tacticool" has had a purpose.
No hard feelings dood, but seriously, don't be so closed minded. It's getting rather old.

... Airsoft is a game. The only time "HIGH SPEED TARGET ACQUISITION DEVICE" is useful is in a close quarters game. The BB's we fire travel less than 1/3rd of the speed of real bullets and lose velocity at a VERY high rate comparatively. At most outdoor engagement ranges it's possible to move out of the way of the BB before it hits you.
What I find hilarious are the people who take the simulation sport too seriously.
Your whole "Purist" thing is a pretty bullshit argument. It's rather hypocritical considering having something 100% railed out is for NO OTHER REASON THAN FOR VISUAL LOOKS. An airsoft gun is not something you rely on for survival.
As for the "You'd rather look cool than play well" comment... Funny. I've played for 2 years, and been on the winning team in a competitive league, as well as coming out with the least deaths of the entire league season... What was my 1337 set up? An ancient M16 Vietnam with Iron Sights.
I'm reminded of a previous comment that I've read from you that was referring to an accessory made for an airsoft gun, it went something along the lines of
"It was made by a real operator so it must have a purpose." Yea. It must. The purpose it so suck in
HIGH SPEED OPERATORS like yourself that are willing to fork over a couple hundred dollars for a mass produced product with some one's name slapped on it.
No hard feelings, but I think you need to play a little more airsoft and spend less time stroking your PTW in preparation for the zombie take over.
