when you mean "bind"...do you mean that it resists rotation but does still rotate? or it jams/stops and won't rotate any more?

If it's a slight resistance...you might have the selector plate in the semi position, which will allow the cutoff lever to engage the oval nub under the sector gear (this is how the gun cuts power in semi). The oval nub is pushing the cutoff lever, which is in turn pressing up against the switch block. The cutoff lever is under tension by the little spring on the selector plate.

If you move the selector plate to full auto, the cutoff lever is pinned back by the selector plate and will not ride the oval nub of the sector gear.

If it jams/sticks excessively...your axels/bushings may not be pressed in properly. Your mechbox could be warped. etc....
