It puts additional stress on the mechbox which may shorten your gun's life. I'm not sure about the numbers but I know MadMax has done some tests on it. Try not to dry fire unless necessary (such as to make sure your spring's decompressed after use) and you'll get the most out of it. I don't see why you would want to too much anyways.
