if youre working on your gearboxes often youre probly going to be test firing them which will be dry firing of course and when you unload your gun you should always fire once or twice to clear the last bb out and release spring tension and when you do that you may or may not dry fire
when youre working on your gearboxes its usually a good idea to test fire it once or twice to make sure it works properly before you put it back in your gun
dry/test firings gonna be necessary sometimes but try to keep it down to a minimum as much as possible
