im doing this exact same thing. just for the sake of building a new gun from parts.
i bought all ics ak74 parts and am still waiting on them in the mail as some were back ordered. i ended up getting a jg black type v3. it will need a tamiya connector or a deans spliced onto the end of the wires if you got the same one i did that just ends in flat metal things
i dont see why it would be shaped any differently than any other v3. thats what drop in gearboxes are for usually. just whatever gun you have to drop it in
