A lot of people run without one...while others swear by them.
You can get a tube fuse "box" from Canadian Tire or The Source (RadioShack). They're usually a white or black tube...you unscrew one end and drop your fuse in. Just solder it into your red wire. Just a couple of bucks...get extra fuses while you're at it.
Most guys have spares of the stock ones (I've got 4-5) but it's hardly worth shipping.
