try pressing in the valve with a small philip's head screwdriver until it clicks. you'll know they are reset once the valve sits flush with the bottom on the nade. you can even press it in with your finger.
basically you are doing the same thing when you unscrew it as it allows the bearings on the valve to re-seat. BUT, unscrewing and screwing can and probably does add some unnecessary wear to the o-ring.
