Airport security is actually really understanding with the transportation of firearms within Canada. Given that I've been through airport security several times with my father who was transporting hunting rifles with him, I can comfortably say you shouldn't really have any difficulties at all. Just expect them to want you to, as L473ncy said, open everything up, including the accessories for it, especially things like scopes. You'll need a case, which has the added benefit of protecting the contents during handling, which is not-so-gentle.
Otherwise, in my experience, it's actually no different from transporting your normal luggage. Nowadays they'll get more angry over you trying to bring a water bottle on the plane.
