Well, if your battery is a NiMH, then you don't need to discharge it anyways. You would only have to discharge NiCd batteries. (Not sure about Lipos though). As for unplugging it, as long as you don't have a PTW, or something with a mosfet/computer chip system, it doesn't make a difference if you leave it plugged in or not.
