Great post! Should be read by all beginners. I'd like to add 2 things: Being Responsible & Honor. OP mentioned the airsoft community wants to keep a low profile. This is very true, and important. 2 years ago in Quebec City teenagers used an airsoft gun and ruined their neighbors car. Bottom line, use your airsofts responsibly, airsofts got a negative image for a few weeks here after that incident. Second, airsoft is an honor sport. Play fair, call your hits and follow the rules. This game relies heavily on these 2 principles. Apply this and your experience will be of much better quality.
To answer OP's question, my greatest concern when i started airsoft back in 2013 was: Where can I play? the answer to that has already been answered on the first post.
