what sucks about multicam is that you might think a friendly is an enemy...

i remember it happened to someone this summer involving Raven...if im not mistaken.

A solution to this problem would be for everyone on your team to wear a pink bunny head...

And how is that different than any other pattern?

Given the photos you've provided, it's clear that Multicam works quite nicely in that environment. I could however equally produce photos that show how effective Cadpat or Marpat are in other environments. Therefore to me, your photos prove nothing regarding the effectiveness of multicam as a single solution for all theatres.

Don't get me wrong, it looks great. But show me a pic of someone wearing multicam in a densely wooded and folliage-rich area in which the same camouflage level is obtained as cadpat or VN tigerstripe.

In order to guage the overall effectiveness, you need to take similar photos in vastly different areas.

That being said, if it works well in YOUR environment, you have your answer.

well we were playing in a field where there were wooded areas and desert-like areas. the two teams were divided by "greens" and by "desert"....

the multicam took the appearance of both teams when placed in different locations and was harder to disgtinguish which team it belonged to at first glance....and it created some confusion from what i remember.

it is different than any other pattern because if you put a cadpat suit on top of a desert background it cannot be mistaken for anything else than what it is. multicam on the other hand, with it's various wood/desert colors does its job effectively...."multi-camouflage"...eh? ;-)

I suppose.

But to me, Multicam is more tan than anything.

It's a pattern that is a "jack of all trades, master of none". It is an adequate so-so pattern, not perfect, for all environments. It's supposed to ease the logistics burden of stocking different sets of camo for different environments. If you're only playing in one environment then stick with a camo suited to that environment. I like it but have given up trying to convince its detractors. People either love it or hate it. Leave it at that.

I had the same problem with a team mate wearing MARPAT. I was running out of the base during an attack, he came running around the corner coming into the base, I shot but recognised the pattern just as I squeezed the trigger and veered my shots off the last second before they came out of the barrel. Sucks sometimes because marpat gets lumped with woodland to ballance the teams out. Makes things difficult. I've been pretty impressed with multicam though, even if it doens't work in all areas.

And Rat, Rawdon field is AWESOME!!!! I fully understand how you say that the multicam can get confusing at times depending on what team you are on.

It's too bad that the Army went with ACU over Multicam. I've seen the comparison photos that are on Military Morons and Multicam beat ACU for every climate and setting. (btw, they did comparisons in woodland, bushes, rocks, sand, etc..)

ACU seemed to have been designed for Urban desert settings ie. BAGHDAD.

MultiCam looks like poo smeared on some fabric. Sorry to blunt, but it does.

Here's some pics right off the Multicam official website

Everytime I see those concealment pics I go 'oooh aaah'.

The only places that I can see Multicam not working is in the snow (which is okay since we've got white overtrousers/smock that get issued). A place it wouldn't do well would be lush woodland, but it would still blend well enough that you wouldn't be seen in a first glance.

It would only work well in tan/light brown/dead grass kinda enviroment. I dont see what's so multi about it.
