Manufacture steel parts and higher grade seals/valves with tolerances for higher pressures and a stronger recoil spring!

I was thinking of winding in a second short section of spring at the end of the recoil spring to increase the bounce back into battery.

but I have to find the right spring size

RA TECH WE AK 74U #107 - YouTube

This could be a worthwhile upgrade for full-auto functionality?

I did not know about this part.... it seems to work..

but I am going to try my spring remedy

Interesting part. Thanks for the link.
Seems to be a better solution than the short-stroke block that WE offers.

But the loss of the full travel bolt is an issue for me. Perhaps I'll upgrade one of my AKs with the new mechanism and leave the other at the slower full-travel bolt.

Ok, installed short barrel and NPAS.. Seems like AK dumps a lot of gas, I had to turn NPAS to almost full in order to see any reduction in fps..

Hey guys, I always wanted an AK-style GBB so when the WE AK74 variant came out I bought one. The dream gun is an all steel classic AKM with fixed wood stock and wood handguard. So far I've only replaced the trigger group with the steel set from RATech. However, there are 4 more mods I would like to do and would appreciate anyone's insight as to how to do them

1) Steel bolt carrier. Does one exist? The stock pot metal one has started to form a groove from wearing against the steel hammer, and my guess is it will only get worse. The cocking handle also seems like a likely part to snap off.

2) Front sets. With the new WE AK PMC released, is it possible to swap the front ends and turn the 74 into a full size rifle, obviously putting in a longer inner barrel as well? Judging from pictures the receivers look identical, so it seems reasonable you would be able to swap front end. A full-sized front end with wood furniture (ie no rails, no plastic!) would be ideal... although I haven't seen any made yet.

3) A wooden stock. The AK PMC has a collapsible stock attached in what I assume is the same receiver as the AK74. I know the gun is capable of taking RS grips, but can it take RS stocks too? If not, are there any compatible wooden stocks available?

4) Increase ROF. Anyone who has fired this gun full auto knows how slow the ROF is. I've seen the mod which puts the big buffer on the return spring, but that IMO is not a proper solution (too much wear/stress/ lack of full bolt travel). Are there asymmetrical return springs that anyone knows of to increase the ROF?

These are all my issues right now with turning the WE AK74 into a full-size AKM. I know I asked alot of questions and don't expect answers to every one. If you can help in any way it will be much appreciated ^.^

P.s. yes I did search everything on here and google before posting

Why would you bother with all that when there's the GHK AKM Gas Blowback?

You would also have to get a properly curved magazine for an AK-47.

BTW an AK-47 has a machined receiver, not a stamped receiver. An AKM is the closest you could get with a gas blowback unless you modified an AEG.

Ah, my mistake on AK47/ AKM. For some reason I thought the AKM was the variant with metal underfolding stock : s I'll edit my post

As far as curved magazines go, looks like the WE AK PMC takes them. And if it's the same receiver as the 74, the magazines should be interchangeable.

I want to do this project for a few reasons, first being I already own the WE haha. Also, the WE has a full travel bolt while the GHK has a 'regular' travel bolt (only uses about half of the bolt's raceway, judging from videos). That small feature goes a long way towards realism for me. Finally, I'm doing this project because I enjoy working with guns (swapping a trigger group is fun for me lol) and would rather build a quality machine myself than just trade money for one. Kinda like building a relationship with the rifle ; P

I'll be calling TorontoAirsoft on Friday to talk to the WE tech about this, but any answers are still appreciated
