Gun Bags

Does the average airsofter deem this bag mandatory? I have just been wrapping a black garbage bag around my gun for transport so that no one calls the cops on me. I'm just wondering if I should shell out $100 for a bag.

While not really Necessary, It is in your best interest to buy a lockable gun case and lock it up.

Edit: A gun wrapped in a garbage looks like a gun wrapped in a garbage bag.

Not a smart way to transport a weapon. Lockable gun case is the best way, and if traveling in public, I use a soft guitar case.

You can find a suitable gun case or bag for a lot less than $100, and they're highly recommended. Wrapping your gun in garbage bags looks silly anyways.

Keyboard soft case.
Same thing as a soft gun case.

Subterfuge is the key. It's kind of obvious if it's a garbage bag with a gun in it.

You should at least think about getting a rifle case from Canadian Tire or Walmart or something (the cheap flambeau ones that are like $20 + tax).

A guitar case is pretty good too. If you had a Thompson with the tommy gun mag, wore a suit, and had a fedora you would look pretty badass.

I've heard that the best however is a soft keyboard case for an electric piano. There's lots of room and you can always sew in straps to hold mags and add compartments and such (speed loaders, hex keys, silicone oil, screw drivers, a mini "gundoc kit").

The problem with Keyboard cases is that they cost the same as a lot of the discreet gun cases...

while not directly a gun case, I do very much recommend some form of a case or bag. Both for discreet transport, and also to protect the gun during transport and storage from those unplanned 'oops's .... cause lets face it, these things aren't cheap, and nothings worse then seeing a grown person sitting in the corner of the field crying with a broken gun

As was already mentioned, if you want something cheap yet still effective get one of those cases from Crappytire. Doesn't cost much but still does the trick. I use one currently, and even though the end kinda chipped it still does it's job.

This is what I want to get sometime in the future.

yeah I use one of the crappy tire $50 hard double rifle case for holding everything except the gear I wear.

when (not if) my collection grows, I'll be picking up one of those large double sided cases for holding my collection (I have a 3yr old... no accidents!)

a gun bag (padding) http://ascmart.ca/product_info.php?c...&products_id=8 (looks like a keyboard bag but in khaki) or an equipment bag http://ascmart.ca/product_info.php?c...&products_id=9 (looks like a duffle bag) are good if you want to be discreet and offers some protection for your airsoft. A hard case is good for protecting the gun. garbage bags just make you look shady and neither protect nor hide the gun. The only place i'd consider using a garbage bag is on the inside of a case or protective bag to help water proof.

Haha, I do agree on the garbage bag making me look crazy.

I'll make a stop in my local CT and pick up one of the cases that they have to offer.

Bottom line, better to be safe than sorry.
