My advice, you play a simulation game, with toy guns that shoot bbs... Do you really need to blow $300 on a pair of clothes for that game? Your not a soldier, and people have told you to buy tru-spec and other brands that will hold up. If you do end up buying this IMO you have more money than brains, and would love if you could share the cash flow to help me get a new vest

Do you REALLY need to blow $300 on a leather jacket?
Do you REALLY need to blow $60,000 on a BMW?
Do you REALLY need to blow $2200 on a PTW?
Do you REALLY need to spend an extra $200 on the most awesome combat pants and shirt you will ever wear, over regular old sweaty unpadded BDUs?

no, you don't, but you will feel fantastic when you do

Is this thread starting to derail into one about frivolous spending?!

I'm the best at that!

I actually use old Canadian Para BDU's I bought for $30, lightest clothing I have you can almost kinda see through it (underwear and undershirt are a must lol) breathe's amazing, people will get knocked out from sun stroke and I wont even have opened my canteen yet.

Try wearing propper ACU!
They're three times thicker than DPM jungle pants but half as hot because they're WHITE lol
And you should get yourself some level 5 soft shell, the 400$ jacket is amazing in the rain/high winds, I even prefer it over the level 6 goretex jacket!

There is no substitute for Crye.

I have owned Gen 1, Gen2 and field sets from Crye, basically everything they have ever made except the armour chassis and blast belt for obvious reasons (export prohibited).

I have also owned at least a dozen clone sets from various manufacturers, and none is as good as the real thing.

However, for the Gen 2 sets, make sure your sizing is bang on, I had some sizing issues where 38R Gen 1 pants fit fine but a 38R Gen 2 was WAY too big. Gen 2 is all that is available new from Crye, range vests no longer made (too bad).

Damn, thread high-jackers...lol

Assault Pioneer - I started pumping iron when I was 13 yrs old on my older brothers bench and free weights. I'm 33 yrs old now and own a +$8k gym/dojo in my basement (still not finished building it up with more equipment that I want).

Diabolic Tyrant - I'm not saying I'm rich, I just don't drink beer everyday after work (I avg about 4 drinks a year for special occasions) or go on expensive vacations every year. I also don't gamble (I definitely know how). I work in a casino and I know exactly what happens to gamblers (novelty fades fast when you work in a casino for 40hr a week). I also grew up with parents in the financial industry, So I know how to manage the little $ my wife and I make. Buy a house, invest for retirement and start a side business(s), that sort of thing. As you can see, I'm pretty busy with 3 kids + wife + house + full time job + family business + planning own business(s) + living healthy + my hobbies. So I feel like I deserve to spend as much money as I want on the hobbies that I'm into, When I have free time. (Work Hard, Play Hard mentality)

Back to the topic at hand please!

Drow - Are Huang's replica Cyre Multicam colours match the real thing? I do intend on buying a Multicam vest, So I want it to match the BDU. People say "...to the untrained eye, you wont notice". I work in a casino with idiots, liars and cheats. Attention to detail is a must and I'm on my "A" game at work. So I do have a trained eye for detail and I WILL notice the difference!!!

You can't tell without a side-by-side. Huang's is very good.

But when you do put them side-by-side, the differences are obvious. As well, the Huang stuff I got a couple years ago was a clone of the Gen 1 set. The Gen 2 set no longer uses the spandex but rather t-shirt type material, and the pants have a ventilation material at the top of the ass. The pockets are also different, as is the leg-tensioning system at the calf and in the main pocket.

The spandex on the Crye is thick and tough. On th eHuang stuff, it falls apart, frays, and the stitching on the sides comes undone.

I did a photo-comparison some years ago. I don't know if it is still around. I compared Crye, Huang, EB, Tru-Spec, Propper and some China-clones.

BTW, Built-in knee & elbow pads is not a must! I just thought they look be nice and would be more comfortable. I can buy Muticam knee & elbow pads separately. Or just use my black ones that I use for inline skating/mountain biking.

BAHAHAHAHA
The real thing doesn't even match the real thing!
There's 7 or 8 shades of real steel crye multicam. All of them 100% real crye.
65/35 cotton poly twill, 50/50 poly/cotton twill, 50/50 nyco ripstop, 50/50 cotton ripstop, 60/40 cotton/poly all are different shades.
And then all the deniers of nylon, 500-1000D have different shades as well when your looking at pouches.

Get all your clothing from the same manufacturer in the same material. And try to buy all your pouches and LBV from the same manufacturer as well.

But all in all there are 3 major shades of multicam; predominantly green, predominantly tan, and grey.
Grey multicam is the realsteel crye combat BDU's. Blends into everything.
Green is your tru-spec 65/35 cotton poly, get it dirty, wash it a few times, your pants will turn brown and your patrol cap will turn fluorescant green.
Tan is most of the 50/50s, best alternative to the grey really, and it's next most awesome shade to the grey multicam!
