Vintorez 101

Hey AC, looking for some info on VSS Vintorez options on the market.

So far, I've seen three first hand: King Arms, G&G and AY. King Arms & G&G I know pretty well from other guns, but have not seen nor heard much in the way of their Vintorez models. As for AY, not a lot of deets on them, and most people I ask just shrug.

Does anyone have any of these guns or have any light to shed on them? Am looking to pick one up this season for my next gun and am eager to find out which should be worth going after.

Of note, the Echo1 is the only one where the battery is in the stock instead of the mock suppressor. It's a lot more convenient, but I have no idea on how it compares in quality with other VSS.

Off_Kilter: Can you comment on LCT internals? I've done a bit of research and it looks like they use CYMA internals, or at least used to. Has that changed?

Drakker: I thought the battery went in on the top of the receiver (similar to other AKs such as the AIMS). The AY one I looked at had it up there. How much room in the stock is there on the Echo1 for a battery?

I would really like to see your source for the AY battery in the top cover. There is no room for that, the V3 gearbox fills it for all brands. Also, the top cover is bigger than the real VSS top cover to accommodate the V3 GB (which seems to be true for all brands on the market right now... so many of them all at the same time, all with different designs).

As far as I know the AY and Echo1 are the same, so there's room for a stick battery or small lipo in the stock.

Having handled the KA (and worked on it, if it does not feed properly, swap the nozzle for a standard AK one).

The mock supressor is held in place by a quick-detach button. It's hell of a lot more convenient and you can actually put 2 11.1v 1200mAh packs in there if you want. When using a single 7.4v the ROF is already insane, and weight is very well ballanced with the battery in front.

G&G has the barrel off-center in the mock silencer to allow for more space, but then uses custom hardcase batteries. Nothing else will fit without heavy modifications.

Pretty sure standard stick batteries will fit no problem. Or stick lipos.

The AY one I looked at Toronto Airsoft last weekend, I swear I popped off the top of it and the Tamiya was right there. *shrug*

Hearing more and more good things about the KA model. Read some reviews on the G&G and it has a ton of really weird technical aspects that just don't make a lot of sense (battery being one of them). Also the off-center barrel is annoying.

Also the AY doesn't have a wood stock, so there is that.

I have the G&G one, and it's been a blast to use. It's one of the G&G top tech so the internals are decent? Haven't had a chance to open in up but it's been running great. The off-set inner barrel does take some time to get used to but proper hop deals with it. My one gripe is that I'm stuck with Hi-caps for now. being about a one hundred fifty hi-cap is a little annoying. The fact that they give you two 11.1 li-po's is actually really handy. Even with the charger included, it's pretty much a complete package. It is a bit on the heavy side being full metal and real wood so a decent sling would be a great thing.

If you're looking for something more on the run and gun type of vint, stay away from the G&G one.

I have the LCT version with folding wire stock. This is a typical LCT, solid and extremely well made. The problem with G&G is the proprietary battery, the problem with the AY is poor quality control, and the problem, to me anyway, with the KA is that it only has high cap mags??
Spend the extra and get either version of the LCT, you won't regret it.

you have the AS VAL not the VSS vintorez

FWIW the stocks are not interchangeable

Problem is not fitting.

It's that there is a rack and special connector for the batteries.

Installing a standard stick LiPo means modifying the mechbox and receiver to rewire everything.

I think the LCT mags might fit in the KA...
Unfortunately, I don't have a LCT mag to test.

Well If the LCT Does anyone know if the mags for the VAL are the same for the Vintorez? Stupid question but I had to ask.
There is no room in Val for a regular stick battery it needs a thinner Lipo to fir in the barrel.
