The great advantage to lasers on deadly weapons, is you're generally not concerned about their eyesight lol

You know I'm actually not sold on COTI technology.

I feel that Thermal systems and I2 systems have different roles, and that blending them isn't necessarily a "best of both worlds" for every situation.

I don't understand your statement exactly. With the thermal overlay you can turn it off, or just turn it down so that it is not interfering with the intensified image. If you are moseying along and just so happen to see a thermal signature of a person you would not otherwise have seen, well, it has served exactly the purpose it was designed for.

There are obvious advantages to each technology(thermal / night vision) over the other but a COTI type system is meant to augment and compliment your night vision. It's not meant to replace the other technology. The only real draw back to these units are their adding of weight to your set up, that it is yet another thing constantly eating up your batteries, and their fairly high cost.

Agreed. It definitely has it's place. Is it COST EFFECTIVE for airsoft? Hell no. But for LEO and MIL absolutely. Any advantage you have is one more stacked in your favor, a fair fight is a dumb fight... etc.

There is but one negative I have found so far and this is a fairly minor issue for a select opportunity. When running the system during the day time with the coti projecting through the day cap hole you lose the benefit of IR lasers. Again minor issue for an effective yet unnecessary use for this unit. Otherwise during night time use there is no, absolutely no negative when it comes to this combination, well other than cost of course. There is absolutely no hiding from this thing. As for weight, it is a few ounces, granted ounces=lbs=pain but for the advantage the weight is well worth it. In regards to the bad pic, you try taking a cell phone pic, it isnt the easiest thing..

What brand of COTI is that?

Protect the lens by using a germanium or polymer sac lens, it's no different than protecting any other NOD.

Power was out today, was waiting for darkness to play with my NVGs.

Taking a picture through heavy old nightvision devices proved challenging. More so with the Scope and less with the goggles. I wish my D300 Gen 2MS arrived :/ Still stuck in the mail.

Was trying to catch a shot at a car driving by, jumped the shutter too early.

Just across the road

Someone's truck 250-300M away, my hand was shaking like crazy trying to balance the 3kg scope and my cellphone. Only picture I got before the lights went back on and the ABC shut the scope off

I think my Battery was dying the NSPU is pretty power hungry, having to run 3 gen 1 tubes and the illuminated reticle. I couldn't power on the recticle so I suspect the batteries where dying.

Solid mounting setup though! Looks like a platform you could easily upgrade in the future.

Hello,

I am looking at purchasing a Yukon NVRS Titanium 1.5x42 Mini Varmint Hunter Night Vision Scope YK26011, and just wondering if this is an alright night vis scope to get or if it will be a waste. I have a couple games that have night time play and hate being blind.

Thanks for any help.
