TM hi-capa 5.1 : hammer unlocks only after 4-5 pulls of the trigger

Hello,

I have recently disassembled and reassembled my hi-capa 5.1 for cleaning following some guides found on the Net (video and pdf).

Now that it's reassembled when I cock the gun the hammer stays locked back and the gun only fires if I pull the trigger 3-4-5-6 times.

I assume the problem is with the 3 pronged sear in the grip but even after carefully looking at pics and such I can't seem to ge the right position.

Have a game tomorrow morning and would to use it. Anybody has more details on this problem?

P.S. I know this is a common problem and that thread exist but I couldn't find one with that specific problem. It's either hammer locks back all the time or not at all...

check if your trigger stirrup is bent, might have happened while cleaning it

would it be bent inward or outward to cause that effect?

Outward or the trigger might not be straight

Take out the stirrup and examine it, had this happen before, when you pull the trigger a few times you can hear it resseting the sear before that final time that it trips it

Try to bend the right leaf prong that's resting on the disconnector forward (towards muzzle), while making sure that the middle prong rests on the sear.

Pus :

The stirrup visually looks very straight to my eyes. I tried bending it a bit but no help. When you say check how smooth it slides do you mean if it blocks anywhere or if strength is required to pull the trigger because the stirrup rubs somewhere?

Strike :

So when I look at the gun from it's back (like if I was pointing it at an enemy) I bend the right prong "toward the enemy" a bit? When you say make sure the middle prong rests on the sear, you mean that part up there in the upper part of the gun?

I also know that setting up those prongs the right way when reassembling the gun is often ther cause of many problems but I haven't found a very clear picture that shows how they go. Anyone has one?

Thanks for all the help guys!

don't bend the right prong too much. I just fixed the same problem with my hi capa. Add a bit of grease on the inside of the right prong (the side that rests against the disconnector). Make sure its grease, not just silicone oil.

Yes towards the enemy, but like Daiviet said you don't have to bend too much. Just make sure that the disconnector can bounce up freely when you press the right tab on the frame.

The disconnector is the silver part that rests under the right prong? The part that goes up and down?

Check if it the gun fires properly when you press at the very top of the trigger.

If so, it does the same mine did, the little play in the grip for the trigger is a bit too loose and the stirrup is not moving far back enough.

You can check that without the slide, it is easier to feel when the right spot is that way.

If you have an adjustable trigger (usually aluminum ones), it is possible that the set screw is too far back and does not let you push the trigger far enough.

But first thing, try at the very top of the trigger. It worked for me.
If that solves the issue, you will have to add a thin piece of plastic under the trigger at the trigger guard. If you look carefully, there is a guide molded in the grip. That would need to be made swallower to keep the trigger/stirrup aligned.

If you need help, I will be on MSN all night.

Well I don't know what I did but now the problem is different.

It feels like I am on safety all the time when I try to fire the gun. Plus when I pull the trigger without the beaver tail being pressed the trigger stays back. When I press the beaver tail again it clicks back into position.

Now the gun does not fire at all even after multiple pulls of the trigger.

Guess I'll visit a gundoc if no one has any other ideas...

easiest way to see whats going on, put the gun together but leave the beavertail safety off. that way you can see whats going on and diagnose what the exact problem is

+1

Disassemble and CArefully reassemble it without the beavertail and see if everything is moving as it should
