After reading Styraks comment I went back and looked, the sector gear does have an addition. As well as the tapet plate is different slightly from original model. So many changes can happen over the course of a year, Im extremely impressed.

LoL I was wondering what they replaced the fusebox with, so that's what a MOFSET is XD

I had three of those second gen M4s from Jing Gong ...absolutely beautiful.

New line of JG is really picking up...

Before they were on par with Cyma... but it looks like they're trying to establish themselves as a decent company.

Lets hope they stop using white metal and go to alum or steel

with the current cost of steel and the current economic state world wide i highly doubt ever seeing them switch over to that when they are selling them just as cheep as d boys bodys. now aluminum isnt that far of a strech due to its cheep and easy machineablity but as for steel way to much for the cost and the machining required. but it would be sick if they used steel lol

An update, of sort.

I've skirmished with the weapon once, accuracy was horrible.

Upon checking the hop-up units, the barrel was very dirty and packed with dry grease.

Hop-up rubber sleeve was crap.

Hop-up nub was not perfect either, not perfectly round or well-cut.

The barrel of the HK416 (full stock, 14.5'' version) is close to 400mm - longer than your standard M4 barrel, but still WAY shorter than the M16 barrel I believe.

Not luck finding a Vernier Caliper, but would be extremely intersting if someone can measure out the diameter off the barrel.

Things I replaced:
1) Guarder hop-up sleeve
2) Element hop-up nub (Guarder nub was too hard, over-hop-up even with hop off)

And that's it

Overall, very impressive package, but needs some maintenance work before it's field ready.

Just got access to a Vernier caliper.

Inner barrel diameter is - wait for it: 6.04mm

Fluctuates a bit between 6.03-6.05mm when I rotate it around, but 6.04mm is the average reading I got.

Hey guys,

Just been lurking around here, trying to read up upon the HK 416 full metal.
But now I'm stuck in this gearbox and have to post (sry total mechbox noob).
I've been playing around five full days when my new JG 416 full metal (MOSFET-version)
totally broke down on me. It just made a screaching/scraping sound in the box
and did not fire any bullets.

So went home uponed up the box, believing piston or tapet plate broke.
Everything was fine in the box. Wtf. To the best of my knowledge (eh...)
everything looks just fine. No broken teeth anywhere on piston or gears.
Don't get it. So it was laying around a few days before I could get back
to it, and now ofcourse, and have no idea where those shims are supposed
to be. Figured I'll just try to put it all back together, clean it, grease it
and hope it'll work.

So I've put one shim under the Spur gear, one under the Sector
gear, and one on top of it, and now I have the motor/bevel gear
left so I've put the new kind of bearing on top of it with the last
shim on top of that. Am I totally off here or heading in the right direction?
I'm gonna try to put the thing together again, but for the life of
me I can't figure out what's wrong with it when everything looks fine.

Appreciate any input, thanks/Dan.

Edit: I use a 11.1 V LiPo in it.

That sound could have been due to a motor height issue if everything else seems okay inside. Check the bevel and spur gear teeth to make sure you haven't stripped them as well. When you put it back together there's a small hex screw under the grip. This controls the motor height which is important for the spur and bevel gear to mesh properly.

In terms of shimming... no one can really give you a definitive answer on what's right. Shimming depends on the individual mechbox characteristics. You want the gears to be able to move freely while not moving back and forth too much. http://www.mechbox.com has a video in their V2 mechbox section briefly explaining it. It's trial and error until you get a good fit really.

Sounds like you have a motor height issue. On mine, the adjustment screw would loosen up producing the same results (grinding sound, no shots fired) and I had to tighten it regularly. I eventually put on some semi-permanent thread lock on it, set the height, and it's been fine since.

Sounds like Mr. Crunchs theory might fit,
it could been the motor screws getting loose
with time. Will put it all back together and give
it a shot, will get back to you guys then.
Thanks for the input guys.

Jeebus...still trying to get the damn 417 stock off...damn near
impossible, want to change it to a normal crane stock instead,
but damn it's hard work in there...pitch black and hard to reach
the screw...

It's the damn metal plate inside the stock that I can't
get out...it's stuck in there and will not move.

It's screwed into the back of your mechbox. You need to unscrew it completely then just pull the entire stock tube and it should pull off the receiver.

Why does this have 10+ pages >_> I guess everyone really really likes the HK416.

EDIT: 360, not bad for a JG... Where'd you nab it from though?
