Body armor + rig

Hi!

I'm looking to get something different than just a plate carrier. I'm looking to buy a replica body armor like this:

And then add a low-profile rig or even a battle belt with suspenders. This way I can used either if I want more comfort / ''protection'' or both at the same time.

Has anyone done this before? If so, what would you recommend as far as a rig/belt?

Thanks!

Wearing a belt rig with body armor causes the body armor to get hung up on the belt and pushed up into your chin if you're doing anything but standing straight up.

If you're hard set on body armor, look for a light chest rig with an H-Harness to put over the armor, it's comfortable.

Yes. That would be a 'slick' carrier. as mentioned above a chest rig with an H harness is yourbest bet for comfort.

I've seen them on the classsifieds (carrier).

Many people wear a PACA low profile soft body armor under an RRV or similar chest rig.

In other systems, like CIRAS, the soft armor is contained in the main rig.

Alternatively, I've seen pictures of troops wearing a chest rig (and even an ALICE belt with suspenders) over their issues body armor (when US troops were using the IBA OTV).

You can also check out the Vel Tye Hugger, which is similar to the PACA but has PALS webbing on it to mount pouches.

Thanks a bunch everyone, just the info I was looking for.

So, no belt, better buy a chest rig with H Harness. Just so I can get a grip of what I'm looking for, would this one work: http://www.wgcshop.com/wgc2008/main/...ss&catid=&cat=

This is my setup

EI LVAC carrier with Lvl III kevlar and SAPI plates.

EI RRV

I play with or without armor with this setup. Very confortable too. But heavy.

Hugger + Lower chest rig, navy seal setup.

+

This is an improvement, the shoulder straps of the chest rig got removed and the chest rigt attached to the hugger vest.

You can get the Fort defender in molle variants(someone on this forum should be recieving one in the beginning of the new year)

This but in green.

This is a kora kulon(may have spelt that wrong :/

Generally the Kora is a MVD item and the Defender a FSB one
