UN Company raided by Hong Kong Police
Apr 26, 2013 - 4:06 PM - by Stealth
Hope nobody ordered from UNCompany recently. LOL!!!!!

With the campaign against modified high-powered airsoft guns and air guns used which were used to shoot unsuspecting people as we have written about before, Hong Kong police have raided airsoft shops and warehouses in Wan Chai and Chai Wan. UN Company was said to have been one of the shops raided as it is located in Wan Chai.

Some say that these shops and warehouses are selling airsoft guns that are over 2joules (over 465fps), which are will then be considered as firearms according to the law in Hong Kong.

We're not sure if UN Company is closed pending charges or is still doing business after the raid. We asked our friends from Public Enemy to get a word from them by calling them on the phone but no one was replying from their store. Airsoft forums have been discussing about the raid and there are some worried about their orders placed with the shop.

From the initial report of 40 airsoft guns seized, they say now that the updated total seized were 742 airsoft guns. As for the cimpany in Chai Wan that got raided, we're trying to contact the company that we know of which is located in the same street to confirm if they were raided to.

Etobicoke Legion hall needs our help
Jul 06, 2012 - 8:57 PM - by Barf
Request to sticky this...

War vet fights for Legion's roof repairs

TORONTO - Second World War veteran Bruce Malenson is again fighting for something he holds dear — 67 years later.

This time, the 90-year-old is fundraising to patch the leaking roof at his 75-year-old Royal Canadian Legion branch in Etobicoke.

“All legions have problems,” he said.

“But our main problem today is our moneymaker,” Malenson said, referring to the roof of Irwin Hall, which the branch rents out regularly for events, but barely breaks even on expenses.

Branch 286 president Ron Gregory says their financing is structured so “we can’t keep a lot for ourselves to keep things going.”

That’s why the roof couldn’t immediately be replaced when it began leaking three years ago.

“Hall rentals are really our only form of making funds,” Gregory said. Without that income, the branch might not continue to be a safe haven for the 340 members who gather to reminisce and hold charity events. Other legion branches have closed due to financial difficulties and declining ranks.

Gregory’s voluntary presidency is wrapped in family history; a great-grandfather is buried at Vimy Ridge in France; and a grandfather fought in World War II.

“It’s my obligation to keep their memories alive … to keep the memories of all the veterans alive,” he said. “But I can’t do it alone, I need help, too.”

A locksmith, he occasionally makes minor repairs. Many members with trade skills have done the same.

“I’ve spent thousands of dollars out of my own pocket,” Gregory said.

Now the roof could cost up to $80,000, based on estimates.

Luckily, a Superior Spray Foam employee offered to do the job for $25,000, with no money upfront.

“The way that I’m looking at it is, he’s basically just covering his own end,” Gregory said.

The only problem is that the branch has $2,800 for the repairs. That’s where Malenson comes in.

“We’ll accept any amount whatsoever,” he said. Ten years ago, he helped build a memorial in France, dedicated to Canadian veterans.

“When we started that, we thought how the hell are we going to raise a million dollars?” he recalled. “We raised 12 million.”

War is hell, he says, having signed up for it at the age of 17.

“I’m lucky, I came home,” he said. According to him, 46,000 veterans never returned.

The branch is now campaigning to raise $25,000 to begin repairs on the roof before winter.

To contribute, contact the RCL branch 286 - 416-741-5660.

Capital Airsoft Expanding to Large Indoor Facility Fall/Winter 2012!
Jun 14, 2012 - 9:52 AM - by baker_Jeff
Capital Airsoft Inc. - New indoor airsoft facility opening soon! - YouTube

Yep, you heard that right. This fall/winter (or as soon as we pin down a location) we are opening a 10,000sq/ft + Indoor play area. It could be as large as 20,000sq/ft depending on the location we find. The facility will be placed somewhere west (anywhere along that Anthony Henday corridor). Easy access to Henday for players anywhere in the city is essential. Extended hours will be introduced to allow lots of gameplay time after work.

Many thanks to all of those in this community that have supported us and shopped with us over the years! We couldn't do this without you. We hope to answer the question of new players "Where can we play?" and old players "I want to play!".

The new facility will feature a large showroom, a FULL selection of stock, full time gun doc, many sales staff to work the showroom as well as the range, a Range Manager to operate all aspects of the play area and keeping things exciting/different, and lots more. We will be offering many different classroom courses and training to help teach airsoft basics, tactics, repairs, etc.

There will be a VIP/Party room, and yearly memberships available with perks.

The game area itself will have no expense spared. Ambient lighting and sound, textured (sand look) floors, and professionally designed and built environment. When stepping into the area, you will forget what is outside your immediate vicinity and be absolutely immersed in the tactical situation you are facing.

Gameplay will be more technologically advanced than ever seen before. Thanks to the genius of the infamous DonP of AE Innovations, there will be electronic controlled and wireless objectives. The objective points allow for up to 3 teams in play, and attached LCD screens will show game points, time remaining, status of other objectives. Simply push and hold your teams coloured button, and watch the lights tick towards the top. Once taken, the objective will announce audibly "Objective Taken" and points will start being awarded to your team. Think "Battlefield" in real life.

Pricing will be competitive and not much more than we are currently charging. Rentals and repairs available on site.

Post up any questions/requests you may have here.

Again, many thanks from the team!

The inner barrel has undergone some changes to the shape at the tip of the barrel, designed to not disturb the trajectory of the round as the compressed air ejects the BB from the barrel.

We added an improvement to the HOP adjuster, maintaining the accuracy of short range targets while increasing the flying distance for long range targets.

A new 7511 type motor boasts a newly designed Core Piece and Commutator for the 2012 model. Neodymium magnets with improved heat resistant performance have also been integrated. The bearing size has also increased. With those improvements, an even higher output and greater durability performance is ensured.

New Stainless Steel Cylinder Unit maintains its shape aiding stability and accuracy.

And finally, for the 2012 model, we incorporated the MAGPUL Company’s back-up rear site as well as the trigger guard in our Challenge Kit.

DeepFire AT4 Coming Soon!
May 31, 2011 - 12:56 AM - by Deepfire
The AT4 is a joint effort of Saab Bofors Dynamics in Sweden (Combat system development) and Alliant Techsystems in United States (a defense manufacture) to provide a lightweight, manportable, and anti-structure weapon. This is one of the most successful anti-armor weapons that bring the most effective and economical way to achieve one or more of the following objectives: this recoilless rifle can punch a man-sized hole in a solid wall without bringing down the building or can blow up the entire building. It is also more flexible to eliminate or against stationary or moving targets.

DeepFire M136 AT4 project has been running for the past several years and is very successful in building not only an anti-armor weapon replica but with a great performance as the DeepFire M72A2. Our development department utilizes the DeepFire M72A2 launcher system in order to maintain the features of the original real shoulder launcher. We are proud to transfer this great system and excellent technology to the new DeepFire AT4.

We follow the exact physical data and properties of the original AT4 so that our AT4 replica has significant advantages for both appearance and function (i.e. overall length, design, materials, etc.). The only differences are this is not disposable and able to launch BB shower shell instead. The recoilless rifle replica uses a reinforced smoothbore fiberglass outer tube and a polymer smoothbore barrel. The glass fiber outer tube is a one-piece molded construction in a cylindrical and cone shaped. Fiberglass technology has been applied to the outer tube because plastic is not easy to make a perfectly smooth surface and complex shapes. The fire-through muzzle cover and rear seal are made up of soft rubber for excellent protection.

Such powerful weapon always engages the firing and safety mechanism. A person can simply pull out the transport safety pin, push the cocking lever forward (before it was in the SAFE position), hold down the forward safety and press the red trigger. Be sure to read and fully understand all safety instructions shown on the AT4 replica. All these safety and firing features are built-in functions to make sure you enjoy the thrill and excitement of shooting! The color-coded band is the same type of material as the real M136 AT4, which is imported from Germany. Front sight and rear sight will pop up when you press down and pull backward (or push forward) on the sight covers.

This M136 AT4 has been serving armed forces in wars for many years. Soldiers have no doubt that it will serve with accuracy improvement and effectiveness throughout the war. After you play with this anti-armor weapon replica, you will love and understand the reason why military adopted this destructive weapon.

SAFETY ALERT - Illegal Propane Cylinder Refill Adaptor
Apr 07, 2011 - 12:46 PM - by ILLusion
On March 30th, 2011, the TSSA has immediately released an alert within Ontario regarding adapters used to refill our small 1 pound camp stove propane from large 20+ pound tanks.

In summary:
  • These adapters are ILLEGAL
  • Refilling these 1 pound tanks is prohibited by the Propane Storage and Handling Code
  • Incorrect refilling measures poses a significant safety risk is posed to the public such as serious fires, explosions and burn hazards

While airsoft is an inherently dangerous action sport, we must all do what we can to protect our safety, those around us, and the property we operate on. Overall, by being safe, we also protect the sanctity of our sport. Please do not attempt any activities that can bring our sport under the spotlight of those who seek to stop our favorite hobby!

Although this alert is issued for Ontario, the message is something we need to take seriously across the entire country.

Please note below, that a specific thread on Airsoft Canada Forums has already been marked and added to "a list":

Originally Posted by Fire Chief 1201 View Post

Use of adaptors to refill Specification 39 (non-refillable) Propane Cylinders

Sent to:
Propane Fuels Advisory Council, Propane Risk Reduction Group, Training Providers, Interprovincial Gas Advisory Council (IGAC), Posted on TSSA Web-Site

Adapters designed to transfer propane from a BBQ-type cylinder to a non-refillable cylinder are being offered to the public via online retailers and are further promoted on YouTube (demonstrating a very dangerous practice). Refilling single trip cylinders is prohibited by Ontario laws and this practice may result in cylinders that are overfilled and thus have a potential to cause serious fires, explosions and burn hazards to end users. In addition, the adaptors offered for sale are not approved and may cause additional hazards.
While the Technical Standards and Safety Authority seeks to stop the illegal sale of refill adapters in Ontario, the public is warned that the practice of refilling Specification 39 Cylinders (typically one-pound campstove propane bottles) is illegal and poses potential risks of fire and explosion.
Clause 6.4.2 of the CSA B149.2-05 Propane Storage and Handling Code, adopted as part of Ontario Regulation 211/01 (Propane Storage and Handling), requires that cylinders shall be filled by weight or volume and specifies the maximum values permitted. Help 5.11 Support Public Safety Officers On the Anniversary of 9/11
Mar 31, 2011 - 7:22 PM - by bean
I have wanted to help raise money for various foundations related to Public Safety and Military for awhile now. Yesterday I recieved an email regarding a way to help. 5.11 is currently selling specially branded merchandise in support of the FDNY Foundation, for EMS Operations and the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund. The goal is to raise $750,000 dollars total. However I will turn you over to this wonderfully worded press release as it will say it better then I can.

As part of the 10th anniversary commemorating the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001, 5.11 Tactical invites you to wear and share your thanks. The tactical apparel company will honor Public Safety Officers involved in incidents on 9/11 and donate all profits from a special line of tactical clothing to three funds that pay tribute to those who serve.

The goal is to donate $250,000 to the FDNY Foundation for fire service and $250,000 for EMS operations, and $250,000 to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund. “We are so grateful to the men and women who put their lives on the line for us on 9/11 and every day. This is one way for us to show public safety officers across the country that we will not forget their sacrifices,” explains Dan Costa, CEO of 5.11 Tactical.

5.11 Tactical is using a unique anniversary logo that honors the heroes of September 11, 2001. The emblem features the Twin Towers, the Pentagon, and flight number 93 whose brave passengers prevented it from being used as a third weapon. Mike G., a 9.11 First Responder with the Department of Homeland Security explains “We were meeting with Dan (5.11’s CEO) to discuss new product ideas when the talk turned serious and we began reflecting on 9.11 and noted that 2011 would be the 10 year anniversary. I sketched an idea for the emblem on a napkin (literally) and the idea was born.”

This logo will be embroidered on a special line of apparel created specifically for this project. To engage the public, 5.11 Tactical will donate 100% of the net profits from the sale of these apparel items to the three tribute funds. The idea is for people to purchase a logoed shirt, bag, hat or wallet and utilize the logo to engage others to ask about the cause and also contribute. The tactical clothing and accessory company has introduced this line as a way to pay tribute to our brave public servants by raising money for these funds. Anyone who purchases an item will make a donation to the funds and remember the heroes of 9/11.

Al Autry, Vice President of Marketing for 5.11 Tactical whose son is a firefighter explains: “We hope that this fund drive can be one voice in a chorus of organizations that will take this opportunity to show support and gratitude for our public safety officers.”

This is an extremely good cause and I urge you to support it if you can. I hope to have more posts like this in the future. So if you are part of a foundation that might fit the bill please don't hesitate to send me an email.

Airsoft Range in London Free Press
Mar 30, 2011 - 12:44 PM - by FCSurplus
There is a great article today by Ian Gillespie of the London Free Press.

The article talks about the reporter having fun firing off an ICS M4-A1 AEG.

They shot video of the event, but unfortunately I can't find anything on the London Free Press website about the video.

Ian had a blast trying it out. The article gives a favourable spin about airsoft.
