Insole as abosrbing pad?

To mainly satisfy my curiosity, do you guys think that using a cut out of a shoe insole (gel insole for example) would work as a replacement for the shock absorbing pad that is already in place on most cylinder heads? Considering that these insoles (mainly sport ones) are engineered to take repeated pounding from an athletes foot, which has a ton of energy compared to an aeg spring + piston head, is it feasible that they could be used to absorb the shock of the spring in a mechbox?

Probably.....but then for all of that and a nice aroma, maxi pads absorb too and are flexible for those restless nights.

My guess is that it would be way too thick.

Sorbothane *is* one of the best foot cushions available on the market.

However, since foot cushions usually cost waaaaay more than simply buying a pre-made sorbothane cylinder cushion (complete with adhesive) or even a sheet of sorbothane, this would be the financial version of a Rube Goldberg machine.

how much are those insoles? and then try to source out an adhesive that will keep it in place and not fall off with the repeated slamming of the piston.

not worth it. ARS has spent their time and efforts to get an awesome product out. why reinvent the wheel?

Its because I have a pair sitting around... take it easy. I already have the MASK piston head and cylinder head... I asked the question because of the similar properties of the insoles and sorbothane. Sorbothane is already used in insoles, that is why I was curious if other insoles could be used as well. My mistake for asking a question... as for the adhesive, I hadn't though that far... superglue would ruin the cylinder head if the pad ever needed to come off...

Anybody try impact gel?, it seems like a good shock absorber.

A bit overkill but it could work on really high fps setups. It's also kinda expensive.
