I had the same problem. IT IS DEFINATELY THE SWITCH. The crappy low end switch that the A&K uses tends to conduct improperly and overheat and screw up the contacts. A local electronics store will have these switches in stoch as they are common in a multitude of appliences. The change is relatively simple.
