I had the TLR-1s and the x300 (non ultra version), and a M3X all genuine

I ended up selling the TLR. The x300 is a superior light source and light for pistol / rifle use.

The switching system on the x300 is hands down superior to the TLR. You can paddle to lock it on, or press inwards for momentary, it's simple. The strobe function on the TLR-1s I disabled as I didn't like it at all (double tap rocker to activate), not that it wasn't a quality strobe but when you want to momentary on, it sometimes strobbed instead and when on a class I had occasions where your hand would slip off the rocker and when you went to re-engage the light intending for a momentary on, you get strobe which is fail sauce. When turning the TLR on to scan or check your surroundings its very easy to activate the strobe instead of the momentary on in error.

The x300 is a superior matte finish and is truly hard anodized or whatever it's called. The TLR finish scratches from use / abuse but this is just cosmetic. Both lights are extremely rugged, but I would give the Surefire marginally better marks on that.

Surefire Customer service is legendary. I had the lens shot out in a hardball game and they sent me a whole new light.

Price: buy used Surefire x300 as lots of stateside shooters are dumping them for the x300U version, you can find used units at ~100-180. TLRs you can find 30-130 stateside depending on the model 1 vs 1s, and new/used.

M3X is a awesome light but it's getting obsolete, I don't have the LED version so the output is an anemic ~65 lumens, compared to the other lights. Its plastic but don't let that fool you on it's ruggedness. Great throw on that light, I would say it's superior to the TLR

PS M3X is for sale

Thanks Azathoth, that's exactly the kind of answer I was looking for
Guess I'll just pile up some more cash and get the Ultra version (same price than the regular one when new so...)

No problem!

You won't be disappointed, PS I have a long gun back plate for x300 light that I want to be rid of.

@ OP
I would add that the TLR-3 the laser reportedly awful. Lots of reviews on barfcom that the laser doesn't hold zero or work. I don't have personal experience with that aspect, however at the same pistol class their were a couple TLR-3 users that broke their laser switches.

For $150 you should really take a look at the Inforce APL.

Great ergonomics. Fantastic light. Travis Haley approved
