Lubricant for a GBBP

Hello forum users!

I have more or less of a beginner question. Is it viable to use synthetic motor oil to lubricate a GBBP (WE Glock 17 in this case). I know that petroleum based oils eat away at rubber parts, therefore, I'm kind of reluctant to try it (since it is also my first GBBP).

Welcoming any input!

P.S. My apologies for posting in this section, sadly can't delete it. Really thought I was posting in the Newbie tank....

Are you talking about the oil you put in the mag to keeps seals ok and internals lubed or the oil you put on the slide / exterior of the bolt ?

No, don't use that. You'll end up destroying the gun in no time doing that.

If anything, there are a lot of people that swear by Superlube Bearing grease for lubing up their GBBP/R guns, myself included. Safe to use universally really. Cheap too!

Use a synthetic grease if you're talking about lubrication of the slide against the frame. Maybe something like Loctite Viperlube or whatever you can find at a store.

So I guess in any case it is a no no..... I was talking more about the actual slide moving back and forwards (metal against metal). Gues this means another trip to the store for silicone oil...

Been using frog lube on everything, pretty much everywhere with no problems yet.
Smells good too.

A hobby store (RC cars and planes) mom and pop shop sells a light weight silicon shock oil (10w) for $6 / bottle. "Factory Team" brand.

oil is for recirculating application lubrication, like in oil splashers, or oil pumps, or gear pickups.
grease is for constant slide lubrication in applications that don't have recirculation.

if you cant recirculate it, grease it.
