Transparency polishing.

I've a Save Phace mask with dual-pane visor. The visor has some minor scratches and abrasions here and there. I'm wondering, what's the best/least expensive way you can think of to polish these marrings out?

Location: YYZ VOR 062 radial, 17.5 DME

Those gashes look deep, with plastics I normally just do a quick 1000, 2000 grit sand. Then polish with a buffing tool and plastic type compound + sealant. I've never done goggles or eye pro so I would be careful when doing such a thing.

I've done many slides for airsoft primary however something like plastics I've only done on car headlamps.

How old is the lens? More than a year of use?

I've yet to use it. It was like new, 2nd hand. These scratches are from bumping against things while on my backpack.

Most eyewear polycarb has a coating of anti scratch or anti glare on it. It makes it feel super slippery. Untreated poly carb is kinda sticky as an observation when the coatings came off my ess shields.

You can try and sand it with high grit paper and buff it, but be careful not to take too much off as you could introduce structural weakness to the polycarb.

Gotcha. Thanks all for the input, guys. I'll give it a shot. Years ago I used to repair my PSX CDs with hair spray to fill in scratches, then buff out the excess. Any suggestions that might be a similar fix?

That will not work on this kind of deep scratches.
If you run your nails through the scratches and feel its pretty deep then those are technically un-buffable. Light sanding down will remove most hairlines and make the pitting less obvious.

At this point I'd say it's a better idea and less expensive to just get a new lens or mask

You can buy replacement lenses from anyplace that sells the product. I have seen them on various sites.

I could be wrong... but probably, most likely not, as far as I know.
