Finding a battery charger.

Why is this so hard?

I am about to get a M14A4 SPC from A&A. This will be my first airsoft gun and I am currently looking for a battery pack and charger. My first choice on the battery is the "Intellect 9.6V 4200mAh - Large Type ( Ni-MH )"

Unfortunately I am having the damnedest time trying to find a decent charger. I definitely do not want a manual ac adapter style $10 charger, but I don't really want to spend a fortune either (unless it is really worth it). I looked at the TLP 4000c that they had, but I read some reviews and apparently it makes a really annoying beeping sound all the time.

I am also not sure if I want to go with a quick charger like the one that is on BBBastard's site. A slow charger is better for the battery right?

I even tried eBay, but I can't find ANY Canadian suppliers. What do you guys use and where can I get it?

(Any information is greatly appreciated as I am just getting started)

Read the links on the site, specifically the one that describes the charge process. Its not a peak charger, its an intelligent NPT charger. Unless you're going to condition batteries or get into RC car racing, in my opinion, the fancy digital battery chargers are a waste of time and money for airsoft. I have both. I use the digital one to recondition potentially dead batteries but at $300 a pop, I only justify it because I have a business where I condition batteries, otherwise I would simply use the NPT charger. Your call but you can buy an aweful lot of batteries and NPT chargers for the price of a fancy-smancy digital one.

I've found the best charger for airsoft is the Duratrax Pirhanna, it goes for about $100 retail but you might be able to find it on ebay or something for $80 or cheaper. Only problem is it won't do anything over 9.6V, but most people here will tell you you're insane if you want to do that anyway.

The TLP 4000c only beeps when it's in slow charge mode, but since it's meant to be a fast charger, it'll only beep when it's done charging. (ie, when fast charging is done, it'll switch to slow charge until you unplug the battery and/or the charger)

I just got my charger last week a TLP 4000C, great charger and I did got it on ebay and it was shipped from the US, but it cost me something like 50$ CAD total and I dident had to pay any duties what so ever. So I would definitively say go ebay.

Cheers

Scarecrow, will your charger be able to handle the 4200mAh battery I want?

I am still trying to find a good charger. The one that Scarecrow sells won't support the 4200mAh battery I purchased, and I don't have any local hobby stores. I pretty much have to purchase online.

Any suggestions guys? This is the last thing I need. Without a charger everything I have will be useless!

Thanks in advance for the help

4200mAh might be overkill.. have you considered a battery with lower mAh?

i have my first AEG on the way aswell its a classic army mp5a2..

my plans are

(2) sanyo 8.4V 1700mAh large type batteries
and
(1) TLP 4000c charger

I can custom order you a 9.6v to 18v charger with similar characteristics as my regular charger. PM me if you're interested. They are about $85.
