Excel .23g BB's - opinions?

hey guys

just wondered if anyone has experience using the .23g bb's. I'll (hopefully) be putting them through a stock TM Aug. I've read that .2g bb's aren't all that great out of doors, and the .25s really cost a lot in terms of FPS in stock guns.

The .23's seem (obviously) like a good compromise; but as I don't have any experience yet I was hoping someone would be able to shed some light.

I shot Excel 0.23g for a little bit. I find that the move towards heavier ammo is better, though. I'd rather loose a couple dozen FPS for much better grouping than having a slightly higher FPS that goes all over the place. I shot 0.28g from a barely 1 joule P90 recently and I can say that any loss in FPS is completely made up for by everything else.

Well your off to a good start going with excel. I've only put .2's through my stock SR-16, now depending on where you play can depend on your BB wieght. I shoot .25 through my 430fps M4 of which helps alot with wind, accuracy, bush penetration. I personally have never used .23's but i wouldn't expect to see much difference in comparison to the .25's, but if your keeping your gun stock, maybe .23's wouldn't be a bad idea(fps won't be much different from .23 to .25)

.25's only cause an FPS loss of about 30 in AEG's.

Thanks for the replies. I think what I'll do is start off buying the .23's and maybe just buy a few hundred .25's at a game to test the difference until I invest enough time in airsoft to upgrade the internals.

You'll find the .25's will drop your fps but will increase your effective range.

0.25 BBs shot about 265fps when my AUG was stock which was completely acceptable
I'd go with .25s since the AUG is one of the harder shooting TM stock guns there are and a few less fps really doesn't matter when BBs are hitting at a smaller grouping

.23 is the missing link between .20 and .25. Like Goldilocks, not too light not too heavy. just right.
anyways all jokings aside, I find .23g to be a fair compromise for stock guns (250-280 fps) during little to no wind weather or indoor play. anything higher than 280 fps give or take, its best to stick to .25g. try a bag and see for yourself. if you dont like it, use it for cqb, it packs a greater punch than .20g.
