New SP160, frustrating fps..

Just replaced my a year old SP160 with a bnew one for my TM AUG because i thought that the fps drop was because of spring aging. Anyhow, after i installed the bnew sp160, I was frustrated with the fps. I don't have a chrono but i use a can of coke to get the approximate. I'm suspecting that the problem is the hop-up chamber and the nozzle combination. I never replaced the nozzle ever since, and i know it's still intact. I replaced the plastic hop-up chamber to CA metal hop-up chamber around 2 months ago.. but didn't get the chrono after that. But I had a better groupings.

To diagnose this, here's what i did..

I took out the V3 gearbox, took out the front barrel assembly... then check if there's any leak when they were to put together. After few single shots, with bb's (manually fed through the bb well).. whenever i shoot, with the nozzle is longer.. (meaning: half cocked or 3/4 cocked).. I always get the desired fps... now.. if I start pulling the trigger from uncompressed state (shorter nozzle), the fps is so low. Well ofcourse I know that when it shoots... the nozzle will erect on its own.

I'm not sure what's going on inside there.. but i think the play of the nozzle is to be blame.. or a wrong hop-up chamber.

Please help... any similar issues?

actually... I'm not sure if the nozzle is getting to the hop-up chamber that far by the time the spring is released.

If you think it's the nozzle, check that the tappet plate is connected to it, I've had that happen to me once, or you may have a accidentally pulled the tappet plate spring. or hell the tappet plate itself could be worn down at the back end that makes contact with the gears. again these are all nozzle not moving right corrections.

I'm not sure if I see any irregularities with how the tappet plate plays. It is moving forward as it should... but my problem during the cycle is that it moves back very quickly during the spring release (compression). That made a huge amount of air to escape.

I was thinking of making the nozzle to stay as erected a little longer but I have no idea how to do that. Sounds odd.. but that's the real problem.

that sounds like the actual gear that moves the tappet plate and piston (forgot what it's called) may have grown? and extra piece or more believably, if you have one of the ones with those adjustable weights(i think thats what they are, well at least, they move) then one of those could be sticking out and catching the tappet plate and pulling it back.

just fixed the tappet plate... (i don't really know what's wrong).. still going back prematurely when firing..

the fps problem could be beacuse your O ring that fits around the piston head is aging, replace that and grease it and see if that helps

or if not, your hop up rubber is old, and cant keep a seal either

^ actually.. everything that are related to leak problems are new. Piston head o-ring, hop-up rubber & hop-chamber. What I notice is, the nozzle is pulling back prematurely.. that causes the air to come out.

theres no reason it should be, the way the gears are made it cannot be pulling back any differently then it was when you got it, replace the nozzle, that might be deformed and not holding a seal

I wanna freak out.. i can't isolate the problem.. Anyhow, could anyone know how to know if I got a wrong air tight nozzle? My gunsmith installed this for me (about a year ago).. and I never checked the chrono ever since.. I replaced almost everything except the nozzle and the stock cylinder head. With SP160.. i can't even penetrate the bottom of the can of coke.

If you say the nozzle is coming back early,check you timing on the gears.

Not to sound condescending, but when you re installed the cylander, did you make sure that the little window is facing back?
