The mag's are almost a foot long which would prove difficult.

Google is your friend: The first link

Best bet is to find some mag pouches and try them various ways on a molle rig. I'd recommend an RRV for outdoor and a CIRAS for indoor. Depending on your torso length you might have to mount them sideways under the armpits. Or as a drop leg config:

The Animu was a bonus for you

I can run 4 max mags on my plate carrier, I suggest something with molle on the side like a ciras.

I'd suggest that or a molle vest with 4 mags on it, and then do a drop leg panel with another 2 pouches

I run 4 mags on my plate carrier. I could use double pouches, but that would be too bulky. If I run more mags, I put them in a dropleg. It make mag changes even more complicated and time consuming, but this weapon is not suitable for fast paced assault anyway.

Iv run a P90 for 5+ years now. The fastest reload in my opinion is from the offhand leg. Drop the p90 lower than low ready extract the spent mag drop it to the ground or to a dump pouch. Pull the fresh mag off your offhand thigh and insert into the reviver witch should be on nearly the same plane as the thigh that it came off. No reason why you shouldn't be able to reload as fast or faster than a conventional mag under the gun setup.

I prefer to reload from the plate carrier. I got custom made pouchs for the mags that allow me to drop them in the pouch without having to angle, force and thug at the mag to fit in like other pouches.
I just raise the weapoin and angle it toward me, allowing the 3 loose BBs to fall (not doing so prevent you from seating the new mag) and I can do an alteration of the tac reload with one hand. Since the fresh mag come from 20cm away from the weapon, my reaction hand does not have to travel far and I don't have to change my stance to reach to a drop leg. And in dear situation, I can still reload from my good hand. Using a drop leg prevent you from doing this.

Drop legs are just a carry option. I use them to carry my mags and I will rotate them to my plate carrier as soon as possible to prevent having to feed my weapon from them.
That's just me, after 5+ years of shooting people at the Mill with my P90 hehe.

This is my CQB setup (I'm on the far laft) The sling was changed, but the main rig stayed the same.
The mag pouches are designed to speed the reaload for P90 mags.

Unlike those pouches, that are too tight and hard to put the mags in fast.

I mounted my P90 pouches on my vest upside down.
I find its easier to get the mags as they tend to drop out easier.
My vest has 4 double pouches on right now as I am getting ready for claybank!

I also use my dropleg to carry mags as well. During the hot summer months, I mostly just use my drop leg to reload with.

They offer an under over pouch system that is elasticated to retain mags while the bottom flap is open.

All of my kit is custom made. Either from thevestguy with my own input. Some from ASC members and now Im making my own. Might cost you a bit more in the long run but even thevestguy has awesome prices and will modify much of his stuff to order.

I use to just stick the P90 mags into my M4 pouches, they stick out but were very easy to grab when I needed a fast mag change. And the mags fit in nice a snug and look cool if you have the ones with the dummy rounds in it. I just find the P90 pouches to finicky with the whole velcro flap on it, I like my mags easy to grab but that's just me. Plus on the P90 pouches you're actually pulling the full length of the mag out of the pouch as opposed to the M4 pouches where you're only pulling half.

tactical tailor MAV & bib with the tactical tailor P90 pouch.

I used to run a Tactical Tailor shoulder rig and run the P90 pouches at 45 degree's like the german MP40 mags, however I found that it was too difficult to manipulate the magazines back into the pouches since we never do speed reloads.

I have talked to him, but I found good mag pouches on ebay, that are a little bigger than the mag, so they slide in and out nicely.
I have explored various ways to have them since Im a big P90 freak.

I like my vest loadout options. Only thing I might ever change is getting flecktarn p90 pouches from europe one day.

Thats why I inverted the pouches. Mine just fall out as soon as I remove the velcro. Its awesome.
